No, Fallout 1st players aren't getting all the new items for free. They have to pay, using the Atoms they get from the subscription.

Let's get this out of the way. I do not work for Bethesda. Please, please read my other posts. This has been covered many times.
I simply leak things in MMOGs that I find interesting. So this will be my last post for a while. I just can't deal with all the anger, hate, and other issues people are sending my way. I do this for fun, and some of you make it hell.

I have a few leakers that tell me things on the condition that I don't reveal who they are. That is all. To think or believe anything else, is moronic.

So to answer the #1 question I have been getting - no, not all new things will be given to Fallout 1st members free or charge. There will be Fallout 1st exclusive items that you have to spend Atoms on.

Yes, that means there will be exclusive items that Fallout 1st subscribers get to purchase for Atoms.
As of now, even vaulted items are being considered, as well as plenty of new gear. They are even discussing a "try it first" program, where Fallout 1st players get to buy things before anyone else.

Fallout 1st will have a trial eventually. Right now a week long trial is planned, although that could change. This trial is not coming for some time, since the overall subscription sales have been excellent. In regular Bethesda fashion this has already been given away as the "test entitlements" issue became known.

Finally, there is an internal memo going around Bethesda condemning this site and a few YouTubers for "fanning the flames". Staff are told not to speak to anyone without HR having the final say. Seems like they are taking the BioWare approach to handling their game when it comes to communication.

I am still told that the community has a lot of impact on how Fallout 76 turns out, so don't quite down and let them get away with whatever they wish, otherwise full P2W may be on the way. In fact, Bethesda will be introducing a few items that they consider "borderline" in the next few months. If the community remains quite about these pay to win utility items, Bethesda will just keep going.
The power is in your hands. Speak with your wallets or accept whatever they deem appropriate.

  1. Side note. I was told that Bethesda will be going after a few YouTube personalities to discredit this blog. Something about not bitting the hand that feeds them. So look out for posts to see who the fakers are.

If there is a positive Fallout 1st video, watch it and see if you are given the whole truth. My past articles speak for themselves. Check them out before passing judgement.
This leak makes me quite sad about how many "bought" YouTube personalities exist out there...

    1. So my source corrected me. They said "Content Creators", not "YouTube personalities" as I stated. I apologise and want to correct that.

I am told that the official subreddit of the game, and other social media, YouTube included, will try to discredit this blog and make Fallout 1st seem like a great deal.

The talking points will include all the things I got wrong (leaks are leaks and subject to change, and I refuse to edit my past blog posts) and the fact that you get a lot of Atoms with the subscription, so it's cheaper than just buying Atoms.

      So there you have it.

    2. I am told the public outcry will make the Riot paint free for all Fallout 1st members soon. Good job all!

      See, they are listening.

      Delete
    3. Wow, you called it. A bit ago Beth said Riot Paint will be free to F1 subs!

I'm sorry for doubting you. You called it a little over 2 hours before they made it free. They are saying it was always meant to be free lol.

      Delete
    4. I knew about it a few hours after the Riot paint launched, but was asked not to post until later in the day. This was supposed to be their test to give Fallout 1st members unique discounted items.
It didn't go over too well, with people canceling their subscriptions. So they quickly changed their mind and claimed it was a mistake, which has happened in the past.

However, they will try again and again. They need to monetize the game and make it self sufficient. ESO like is what they are planning, and yes - lockboxes are being discussed, but they won't be called lockboxes. Free lockbox type rewards to F1st members are also being discussed.

They need to strike a good balance here between the game having enough money to continue development, and ensuring the fanbase is satisfied (and doesn't feel like they are being milked).

    5. Like what? Are they going to be giving them exclusive items? Fallout sub? Do you know of any that will be getting this?

Don't they have to reveal that they are getting stuff from Beth?

      Delete
    6. Yes. They are offered Fallout 1st subscriptions, Atoms, virtual rewards, and a chosen few will be given early Wastelanders previews. Possibly at an event.

What they have to do and what they will do are entirely different. But yes, at least in the US, they have to disclose that they are getting freebies. Not sure if they all will, as I was told a few were already approached and gladly took the membership as well as "other goodies".

Not sure who is getting it, and I don't care too much. I asked a friend to keep an eye on the ip's that visit this blog and was told that Bethesda, and a few YouTubers frequent it.

YouTubers won't even be the worst offenders. Someone I have known for years from within Bethesda told me they are supposed to assist with a certain aspect of the game.... I can't say much more, but let's just say other social media....

I was gonna ask something but I realized you had already answered it in the original post.

On another note, I'm real sorry about the death threats. It's a shame 76's community is so toxic.

    1. I usually get a few, and they are almost always funny, but with this game.... I seem to be getting them from adults who know how to spell and don't type in all caps. So it's disheartening.

Yes. I am super excited for Wastelanders. (Almost) everyone I speak with at the company is thrilled with it, and that is a good thing. The influx of cash these subscriptions gave them seem to be doing a lot of good, with the expansion becoming even larger in scope than originally planned.

More weapons are always a good thing. Take the bow for example. It will have different arrow types (unlike the crossbow). So yes, you will be firing explosive AoE arrows into crowds of monsters.

The story sounds very interesting too, and is not just a rehash of what we have already seen. They are trying to expand everything with this DLC, and I am pretty excited to see how the Enclave and BoS will be handled.

      Delete
    2. Thanks for the reply, this all sounds like really interesting stuff.

Speaking of the BoS, in the one trailer we've gotten there's a large building in an underground cave with flags outside of it. Is that where they're located?

      Delete
    3. I was actually only told a bit about the Enclave faction, but was told that BoS is a part of it all.
So I am not sure. I also don't watch YouTube that much. With 3 kids, this blog and some Netflix is all we can really do.

      Delete
    4. Ah, okay. Well, I won't press you further, but feel free to elaborate on the Enclave stuff you know.

Again, thanks for the hard work.

      Delete
    5. Without giving too much away, our government, knew this whole thing was coming. In Wastelanders, we should learn more about the founding and mission of the Enclave. So I for one, can't wait.

I actually try to stay away from story questions in games that I am interested in, and this is no exception.

    1. Actually, I kind of like F1st. It gives them money to improve their game.
What I don't like, are the things I'm hearing are coming soon, and some that are already in game.

I think the tent and scrapbox are P2W. They provide services that are necessary if you want to compete. Giving unlimited scrap destroys the purpose of the survival element the game has, and giving an unbreakable tent you can place anywhere further cements that. I won't even mention how you can use the tent to juke certain events. And yes, Bethesda is aware you can do that.

  8. Do you think they regret letting us earn Atoms ingame? Also do you think they inflated the numbers regarding the Clean Appalachia event (36M kills) so the community doesn't look that small (10-30K players total on all platforms)?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No. They want that trickle of Atoms in the game.

The community is a lot larger than 30K. I don't have solid numbers (this is discussed mainly by management), but am told that PS4 is currently in the lead, followed by PC, and then Xbox. This is something they want to change with the Steam launch. PC used to have the biggest player base, and most likely will again if Wastelanders is as massive as I am told it will be. They expect big things from Steam.

A source told me that if they had to guess, it would be around 100K active players across all platforms. Much more if you consider people that just pop in for a few hours every month.

  9. I appreciate your info on the current 76 stuff. Any mention about when in Q1 they plan on dropping Wastelanders? Its good to hear that the team internally are adding to it etc

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Last I heard they were pushing for February, but that was before the team got a bit larger and had a cash injection. So that could make it come out sooner, because they really want a piece of that Steam revenue ASAP.

Having said that, they are also adding new things that weren't originally planned, like a "new player experience". This will take more time.

Management says they have to release by late March, so that is the current internal deadline. But I think it will come out sooner than that, as everyone is generally excited about the game becoming self sufficient and more like ESO.

      Delete
  10. Thanks for all the leaks. But I miss when your site was about hacking. You hacked ESO a lot and had info on how to do it, anything for Fallout 76? Any tutorials? Any hints? I see people cheat on PC on every NW game.

    1. See, this is where I have a dilemma of sorts. I work in this industry, and a lot of my sources rely on me not screwing them over by revealing how easy their software is to hack.

So while I will admit that Fallout 76 places too much trust client side, making it susceptible to hacking, I can't reveal what one can achieve and how.

      Sorry.

This goes against the original goal of this blog, but I changed it to be a leaking blog and will be sticking with that.

The exception to this rule will be games where I have no connections.

I tried to send this as a email but I think you missed it. Also how are you able to establish contact with these people cuz an average joe like me wouldn't even be able to talk to these people. 2. Thanks for responding! Did the people ever say what Todd Howard thinks of all this? Also, was Fallout 76 being different his choice or was it the choice of ZeniMax? I just feel that Howard would not have made this game had he been left to it.

      Delete
    3. Howard was told to make a Fallout that was a service game. Basically, they wanted more games as a service, with a higher revenue potential than regular single player games.

This is what Howard and his team came up with.

    3. Well, that was probably the first time I have watched something other than a kid video on YouTube for quite a while.

I like her. Very surprised that she admitted some other YouTubers are getting freebies, and doesn't just exploit anti or pro F76 shock value.

I do wish people would stop talking about the Map76 ordeal. I can tell you that he hacked. A lot. His accounts were flagged automatically for memory editing, using Cheat Engine, and just a lot of shady stuff. Check some of my other posts. I used to hack games to see what I could get away with. When you do this, you understand that it comes with a risk, and he is just upset over getting caught.

My sources tell me that he did not report any of his exploits, nor did he drop all of the items he received. He was quite literally caught with "multiple exploited items in his inventory".

      Delete
    4. Your sources are wrong. The recent posts on both the forum and reddit are trying to make it seem like customer service is actually doing their job when I have proof they aren't including 13 days worth of tickets and comments from the community managers themselves. I'm the leader of the group that this guy is a part of and we work closely with the community managers on reporting the exploits and as many ways as we can find to do them. They aren't always all reported by the person who finds them either since it's a group effort.
How would he be able to drop the exploited items if he had been banned after doing the exploit? When we do these things we crash. A lot. So the ban happening during testing would cause us to be unable to drop the items anyway. Want the proof? Message me on discord. Eckserah#0001

    5. I spoke to a few people within Bethesda about this because I was a bit upset that a tester who was doing this for free got banned.

I was told your group's accounts were flagged (not banned yet), then upon further investigation - a few of you were banned. Apparently some of you were already unbanned?

As someone that made a blog about hacking online games, I know the risks. Realistically, unless you worked out some sort of deal with Bethesda, there are always issues with hacking.

I have leaked countless exploits online, and even sent some of them to developers without publishing them. I have always been banned from every game I hacked.... Except BDO. Still have a working account there for some reason.

Would it be possible for you to e-mail me the proof? I can actually help someone at Bethesda see it.
Please put Eckserah in the subject line. I get a lot of e-mails, and most of them are spam/hate mail.

  15. I wanted to say how much I appreciate the work you've done, and I'm furious at the death threats you've received; nobody deserves that and you've only worked to keep things open, which has had a great influence on how I approach this game and the community.

I disagree with the "Pay to win" argument a lot of people are making: the game isn't competitive except for Nuclear Winter, so I'm not going to tell people what pace to play the game at. To be honest if you're looking to level an alt character, which is something that Builders are going to want to do, it makes a ton of sense, and I don't see the harm, aside from a vague threat of store-gouging. I'd call it unsubstantiated but from what you've said, I no longer would say that. WoW had an outright level up token you could buy, and people said that was brilliant.

What concerns me more is the bans they've been handing out to community testers and community creators like FO76 Maps. That is a flippant disregard for the community, and can only be seen as an overly possessive power move, and it's completely unacceptable. If you learn anything more about what and why that happened, I would be very interested to hear your thoughts and any news you have on the matter.

  18. I got a question that probably most of people on pc wondered about at this point since it is a widespread "problem".
We know that people had and still do breach into the Dev room to get those forbidden items that were never released like the Hunter's Hood, Laser Musket, Atom Cats Paint etc in order to dupe them and spread across the wasteland. By now i would risk to say that at the very least 40% of players on pc have came across these duped dev items in some way or another. People are selling them at vending machines, and wearing them, using them, dumping them.. It has become quite of a widespread thing on pc. Bethesda doesn't seem interested in cashing into the opportunity and monetize some of these items like the paint jobs and outfits or just simply adding them and the community has been interested in these items since launch. Do you know anything about their stance on these items? Like adding them at some point or just letting players enjoy these items like they did with the marine armor mask that is a dev item but they officially stated that they wont remove it and theres no problem owning it? Do they know how widespread these items have became on pc? Are people who own these items running the risk of getting banned(even though they didn't broke into the dev room themselves)?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. First of all, yes. They know how bad things have gotten on PC. This is something they plan on fixing eventually (before Wastelanders hits Steam). They are discussing more ways to automatically flag exploiters and take actions against them. They are also putting in a few more checks on their end.
It has been said time and time again that the Steam launch has to be "damn near perfect". They have also discussed getting review bombed on Steam and what has to be done to avoid it. Hacking/exploiting is a primary concern for them.

As for owning items that you are not supposed to? Enjoy them for now. As long as you are not flagged for hacking, duping, or exploiting - they don't really mind.
Yes, some of the items will come to the game in an official capacity eventually.

Moving on to monetization.... Expect more of it across the board. They are very happy with how things are right now, and will continue to see what else they can get away with.

Having said all this, I am out of the country and need to contact the Map76 guys to see their side of the story. If they were banned for assisting with exploit reporting, I want to see if I can help out.

When I get back on the week of the 25'th, I want to do an Anthem write up and then stop blogging for a while, as it is once again taking up too much of my time.

  19. Thank you for all this information. Boy you sure called it with this patch. Fallout 1st patch mainly. Oh but hey, at least they fixed some floating plants for the rest of us.

So do you know anything about the Bungalow that was on sale for like 150 Atoms shortly after last week's patch hit?
I had two friends buy it and I love the way it looks, but when I wanted to get it like an hour later it was already gone from the shop!!!!!!!!! At 150 Atoms I would have snatched that right up. Was that a Fallout 1st discount or something?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You are welcome.

Well, of course they will prioritize things that bring them money over those that do not.

As for the Bungalow, no that was just a price mistake. It was supposed to be vaulted, instead that happened. They quietly fixed it and moved on.

      Delete
    2. Oh awesome. So they can fix a price mistake in a few minutes, but energy weapons making people unkillable and jet packs being broken are still in the fucking game.
250 DR shit is still broken too. So many weapons ruined because of that.

These issues have been in game for months. But a positive change for us gets fixed in minutes. Pathetic.

    3. To be fair, the Atomic Shop has its own team. They are separate from the main development team (other than sharing some maintenance duties and such).

The debugging of the game is not done by the same people that maintain the Atomic Shop.

This was also a real simple price mistake. From what I recall (I found about it a week ago, second hand, and from someone that does not manage the shop), this item was supposed to be XXX Atoms off and vaulted the previous week. What they actually did, was price it at the discounted Atom price instead of vaulting it.
Then they quickly fixed the issue and properly vaulted the item.
I didn't even bother contacting my source with more knowledge on the Atomic Shop about this issue, because it is so minor, and seems like an honest mistake.

You really can't blame them here.

If Amazon advertises a TV for $100 off (meaning the price is MSRP $900-$100 = $800), but accidentally prices it at $100.... You can bet they will quickly change the price back to $800 after finding out about the issue.

So making a quick change in the Atomic Shop can not really be compared to making huge changes that may impact multiple systems.

    1. I was told they went off the "median" scrap the top 10% lost on the PC version of the game. This is one of the things they track.

I was also told the PC version is plagued with duping and hacking, but they had to use it as the baseline due to the upcoming Steam release.

The users on the console versions of the game lost much less, but the PC version is their benchmark.

This is a management and marketing decision through and through. Fallout 1st needs to have "excellent value", and this will keep happening.

      Delete
    2. Thank you for replying. That makes sense. Although replacing duped items still seems ridiculous, especially if that's what they think it is.
Do you know why so many people who didn't lose stuff were given the scrap?
Do you know if there's much of a response in terms of the backlash to it? Will they do another drop of it to make things 'fairer' since this seems to be terrible for the economy.?
Thank you for what you're doing. It is getting really difficult to keep the faith, and it's comforting to know there's somebody who can contextualise seemingly incoherent decisions.

      Delete
    3. It has been presented that they may have been dupes. The final say was up to management.

No other drop for this is planned ATM.

Bethesda has stats on who lost items. People that didn't lose anything should not have received this, but bugs happen.

I remember Bethesda mentioning earlier this year that a supposed "legendary player" feature would be coming to the game at the end of the year that would give us some more incentive to keep leveling and grinding but it got "pushed back" to next year. By any chance do you know anything about it? Since they briefly mentioned that they were pushing it back there has been no news or any kind of info of this feature

    1. This is being handled by a smaller team. Sadly, I don't have any sources within this team.

What was planned originally, was the ability to remake your character using more powerful perks once you hit 50.

I am told this has since been improved and expanded on, and should launch with or shortly after Wastelanders.

  23. I appreciate all of the info you've provided so far, it certainly makes me both curious and very interested in Wastelanders that's for sure. Now, I know you've been getting so many questions regarding 76 as of late- but there's a bit of a big one that I'm meaning to ask: Any word on mod support? The very nature of the game as of right now has me wondering how it would even work. I'd assume it'd involve the usage of Private Worlds, but I feel that they would actually need to make said Private Worlds function like proper private servers rather than just mere private sessions. Speaking of which, has there also been any talk of any such changes for Private Worlds?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You are correct. Mods will be on Private Worlds only as of now.

About persistent private servers.... That has been brought up and dismissed for various reasons. If the community keeps asking, it may happen - but I was told not to hold my breath.

    2. Right, right. I suppose we'll have to see in the future then. Any idea if mods are gonna be treated with any sort of system / moderation? Like the Bethesda.Net mod library for FO4 or whatnot? I'm under the impression that they aren't gonna be like your usual mods due to the fact that this is an online game.

  24. Hello again MMOG Fails I know I said I would not ask any more questions but this one has been nagging at me for many weeks. Has Todd Howard ever confided in one of your sources his thoughts on the game and whether he likes it or hates it? I looked at the body language he displayed and some of his words seemed to show regret. Did he ever confide in your sources his true feelings or give any hints that we've never seen before?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Reading body languages is largely fallacious. There are a ton of myths floated around about them. They also work on the absolutely broken premise that everybody thinks and behaves the same, or has the same background. Don't put much stake in it.

    2. Feel free to keep asking.

Sorry, I don't have any sources that upper management would confide in, and this is not something one overhears at a meeting.

I am sure he is fine though. He did his job, made them money, and moved on to other projects.

  25. Just curious if you ever hooked up with the Map76 guys yet to see their side of the story as you put it in a earlier reply. Thanks!

    1. I am still out of the country, so I have not. I was supposed to be back in time for the holidays, but the client needed me to stay.

I may be back late next week, or I may be asked to stay longer.
I will as soon as I am back.

  26. Hello mate, really appreciate your work as it's massively helped tie me over until Wastelanders drops.

Had a question, do you know of any new guns/armour sets being added in the patch? I know of the Secret Service PA as well as the Gauss pistol and minigun, but I'm particularly interested to hear if there's any new sniper rifles planned. Thanks bud.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, Wastelanders will have more weapons and armor. No new sniper rifles planned as of yet, but they keep adding things as they wrap up others. So there is always hope.

Mention that you want a new sniper rifle on reddit and the official forum. If it gets enough traffic, I don't see why they won't put it in eventually.

    2. Appreciate the reply, thank you. I know you've answered a TON of questions but I forgot to ask in my original post, but there was a leaked map a while ago showing a highly extended Appalachia and I was wondering of there's any merit to it. Are there any plans to add additional areas outside the region, possibly in the same vein as Big MT or Point Lookout where we get a different landmass?

  27. Do you know if there will be another irl event for wastelanders? Like what they dod with the launch of Fallout 76 when they brought content creators out to the Whitesprings Resort to play the game early.

    1. Yes, they are planning to invite "influencers".

    1. Yes. My last Anthem update still stands. The game is getting a lot more content. They are going to try and No Man's Sky this thing.

Still waiting on them to nail down if it will be a paid update, or done through free patches.

  29. Something bugfing me about this DLC. Will Wastelanders let is kill the faction we don't like?

How will that be accomplished? Kill an NPC and they respawn layter? Like mmorpgs? Kinda lame way to do Fallout.

Or is killing NPCs off the table?

What about new enemies. Will we have human ones now?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You will be able to kill NPC's through Instancing. It will be very heavily instanced.

Oh yeas, lots of new enemies, since they can finally use human models and such.

    2. Forgot to mention. As we get closet to Wastelanders, the patches should be heftier than usual and have plenty of new things to datamine.

  30. Thanks for the leaks mate, keen to see what you know about Anthem "next"/"2.0".

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yep. I answered that a few posts above. But I can tell you that EA is done cleaning house for now and the Anthem teams have a set of goals they are working toward.

Plenty of things are still up in the air, but my last Anthem article still stands (lots of new content, and no the game is not dead).

  31. hi,was wastelanders dlc always on the agenda,or a reaction to complaints of an empty world.sorry if already answered, and thanks for your time.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Wastelanders was never part of the agenda, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Fallout 76 was always meant to be exactly what it is right now, but it was meant to be a lot more popular.

This DLC is entirely their reaction to the community outcry.

    2. one final question i promise :) . why do people tell you information. is it because they can , general unhappiness with their employers , just having a general rant or just letting people know that people within dont always agree with the official policy.thanks again.

    3. Ask all the questions you want. Just don't be disappointed if I don't answer for a while.

Literally every reason you mentioned, plus many others - like generally being excited to work on something they love and wanting to mention it.

  32. given the appeal and success of the fallout 1st ranger armor based on the new vegas ranger armor that must be without doubt one of the armors that most people consider favorite and the success of fallout 4's anti material 50 cal rifle that was also an iconic new vegas weapon do they plan to add more "nostalgic/iconic" stuff from previous fallout games? and also add content from fallout 4 creation club?
having that anti material rifle in fallout 76 for example would be amazing

  33. Shot in the dark but has playable ghouls been mentioned at all, like I know a lot of players that would love to play Super Mutants or other Mutated Beings but with ghouls it would be a good first step into making players feel more immersed into a fallout rpg.

  34. You were right. They just revealed the second event we will have.

Do you know if the free Santatron is here only for the event? Will we get to keep him in our camp after? Can we use both the trons if we have them?

    Thanks for everything you do.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. One of the community managers posted on reddit and said the santatrons are available year round if you claim one in the time frame.

You can only have one robot collector activate BUT if you have already purchased the collectron you can change the santatrons ability to match the collectrons and only get junk.

The only limited time thing with the santatron it will give gifts throughout the holiday event.

  35. I know it's a few days out but are you aware if bethesda will be talking about fallout 76 at the game awards? Or showcasing anything? I know they're gonna be there I'm just assuming they'll be talking about other projects

  36. How serious is Bethesda about doing something substantial about the duping, cheats, and exploits on PC? It is so out of hand now - I've never seen it this bad. Many are so comfortable doing it, and getting away with it, that they are very open about it in the game.

  40. Hey I first want to say thank you for the info, your awesome! I have a few questions so answer what you want if at all. 1) How do they plan on announcing details on wastelanders? Will there be a conference or just a video posted. 2) Is Fallout 76 profitable? Like if current trends were to play out would there be a 2021 for it? 3) Will it all release at once or week by week? Thank you so much for your time!

  51. Personally, Fallout 76 was a improved game when it comes to its capabilities. Absolutely everyone was attempting to qualify for FO76 champs each week, etc. Despite that, hardly any individual plays it any longer. As a result to have any enjoyable on line, purchase Fallout 76 at EZNPC.

  52. Yes, that means there will be exclusive items that Fallout 1st subscribers get to purchase for Atoms.
As of now, even vaulted items are being considered, as well as plenty of new gear. They are even discussing a "try it first" program, where Fallout 1st players get to buy things before anyone else.fifa 24 coins
